Client Reveal: Main Level Bath

Hello there!  I'm thrilled to be sharing one of my favorite client remodels with you today!  I have been working on this 1970's ranch style home here in Salt Lake for the last few years, doing one room at a time.  It's now come to the fun part and we are doing some major renovations in the bathrooms and will be doing the kitchen here soon.

Sadly, we forgot to get a before picture before they started tearing everthing out.  Just imagine a yellowy beige everything.  The toilet was opposite of the window and it was just a poorly designed old looking bath. It is such a difference and I'm so pleased my clients family loves it as much as I do!
This bathroom is on their main level and will also serve as the guest bathroom when they have people over so, though her kids will be using this as their own bathroom, they wanted a sophisticated feel that would appeal to all ages.
We kept the palette light, bright and airy to give the illusion it is larger than it is.
The palette of whites, grays and pops of the faux greenery keep it such  refreshing feeling.

We had the vanity custom made since the dimensions were not a normal size.  We went with a white craftsman look, and kept the design simple, but added narrow draws for functionality.  We got so much more storage out of this cabinet versus the old one.

We picked out this gorgeous granite from a local granite quarry.  We were able to save some picking out a remanent.  Thats a good tip to save on counters for bathrooms.  Just google your local granite quarries and give them a call to see if they have anything that fits what you are looking for.  We love the beautiful movement and charecture this one has and give so much personaltiy to this space.

We found all of the tile at our local
FLOOR & DECOR
They offer wholesale pricing to the public.  I actually get better deals going there versus using my designer discount other places.  I have used them on several design projects and love their selection and quality of products.
We went with a marble looking porcelian hex pattern for the flooring.  We went with this option just for durablity sake.  She has young children using this bathroom and though marble is gorgeous, it just wasn't practical for so much use.  This gives the same look with out being so hard to upkeep.

The shower we went with a standard white subway with white grout.
The niche in the shower is a marble hex.
The grout on the hex tiles in the shower and the flooring have a Silver Grout.
We know subway tile appears to be super trendy right now, but it actually is very affordable and has been around forever and will be sure to keep this bathroom very timless looking.
We just adore the chrome design details and love the shape of the light fixture.
This paired with the round mirror give off a new england timeless vibe, which we love.

The other accessories were found at our local target.  They always have such great decor finds!

My client was able to make these faux roman shades with THIS pinterest tutorial that we found.  We just bought and extra shower curtain and it was simple easy and adds so much to the window, finishing off the space perfectly.

Thank you for taking the time to read this bathroom reveal.  It was such a dream to work on and both my clients and I love the finished result.  I'm finishing up her basement bath remodel soon and I can't wait to share that design with you.

iHome Registry: Master Bathroom Plans

Master Bathroom, Brass, gold, antiqued gold, glass chandelier, marble, carrarra marble, gray, teal, double sink, vanity, 3D, 3D renderings, widespread faucet, free standing tub, ihomeregistry, interior design, interiors, bathroom

Have you heard of iHomeRegistry yet?!?

It is my new FAVORITE design site!
I completley got lost in in the other day as I was making my master bathroom plans come to life and almost forgot date night! Seriously, though, it is such a brilliant concept where you can conceptually design your own spaces TO SCALE.

The main thing I cannot get enough of is the brilliant 3D designer that you can manually create your current home plan or
"Upload your floor plan and
convert it into a 3-D rendering
that allows you to experiment
with different furnishing ideas
and visualize the look and feel of
each room in your home in 3-D
real time."
Master Bathroom, Brass, gold, antiqued gold, glass chandelier, marble, carrarra marble, gray, teal, double sink, vanity, 3D, 3D renderings, widespread faucet, free standing tub, ihomeregistry, interior design, interiors, bathroom
-It is a site designed for homeowners and designers to connect by sharing a viewing professional interior designers projects and to keep up on styles and trends.

-You can also create your own home decor and design registry where you can upload and keep track of the items you are thinking of adding to your home.

-Add all of that to the amazing 3D designer and it creates the perfect triple threat in making your house a home.

Check out this video I snapped to some friends...

I basically just measured the space I am planning on renoing and I was able to easily create the 3D images on their platform.  I then took the measurements from the items I am planning on purchasing for the space.  Ihomeregistry lets you change the measurements of the items on their site to fit the pieces in exactly how they will fit in the space.  So whether you are planning on a free standing tub like I am, or a sofa you've had your eye on and need to know how it will feel in your space... you can visually see it in your room before hand!

I was able to save these images from the site to show you how my plans easily came together.  There will be a wall and barn door way here, but I removed it to let you more easily see the design.

Right now my bath room is half this size.  I have my heart set on doing an 8 foot extention in the future.  Bacially doubling the size of my kitchen (a floor below) and my master bathroom.  Where the vanities are now are where we have his and her closets.  Where the tub and toilet and shower are is where the bathroom is now.  So, the plans are to double the shower, have a vanity to get ready for the day, create double sinks, a free standing tub, create a new widnow and the entire 8 ft extention will house a new walk in closet.  Creating this would be a dream come true for me.  I love the flow, and all the elements of this design.

Here are the design elements.
I want the vanity to be a deep teal color.  The vanity in this room needs to be 80 inches long so I picked out this gray one and will have it painted before it is installed.  All of that storage makes this girls heart go pitter-pat.

I want the space to be airy and relaxing with a bit of a sophisticated glam, so grays and brass paired with the teal (my favorite color of all time, in case you couldn't tell...) will be the perfect combination.

Let's not forget to mention this glass chandelier paired with this free standing tub.  Not only will it visually be a piece of art, but I see many, many relaxing bubble bath's in my future.

So there you have it!!!

November GIVEAWAY... A Few Fall Favorites!

giveaway, instagram, blogger, the vintage home studio, hand towels, body butter, hand soap, lotion, safe products, safe, non toxic, modere
I cannot believe we are almost half way through the thankful month already!?  I was saving this giveaway for my favorite time of the year...
Not only is it my favorite persons birthday today, (Happy Birthday to my Hubby!) I love the changing of the leaves, the crisp air, the yummy baking smells, and the quality time with family and loved ones.  The only downside to the changing of seasons for me...  Is my cracked hands and skin that comes with the cold, dry weather.

 Who's with me!?!

Well, I found this body butter that I'm in love with and officially hooked on!  I'm pretty picky when it comes to lotion, especially on my hands.  This one not only smells like a clean vanilla... so fresh!  But, it moisturizes with out feeling greasy, and actually is absorbed into my skin. Another perk... Modere creates non toxic, clean products...
So, naturally I had to share it with you all and host a giveaway with these favorite products of mine!

One winner will receive all 4 of these products!

Why You Need A Rug Pad in Your Life...

rug, green, made in usa, usa, natrual fiber, non toxic, jute rug ,aztec rug, anthropology rug, west elm, west elm rug, rug pad, rug pad review, rug, blue, tan, bathroom, master bathroom, master, white cabinet, glazed cabinet, cream cabinet, mosaic tile, square mosaic, mosaic tile behind mirror, bathroom, rose bronze, bronze hardware, antique, glaze, lighting, sink, granite, beautiful, design, interior design, tile, interiors, review,
What do you notice about the above picture!?  Is it the beautiful vanity?  The gorgeous mosaic tile?  The nice rug?  What if I told you one of the most important items in this room you can't even see?

That's right... today I want to talk about Rug Pads.

Though you can't even see them, they make such a big difference when putting rugs in a room.  They not only add cushion to your feet, they protect your floors and make rugs, like this one, stay in place.  I had this rug for over a year and have had it in my bathroom.  It was just a pretty accent, not comfortable at all, and could only stay in place if I used rug tape... not ideal, I was meaning to replace it something more comfy, then I realized I could just try out a rug pad instead.  It's made such a big difference, and I feel like its made this rug one I'll love for a long time to come!  I'm so happy that it finally stays in place too.
I found RugPad USA and have loved the product I received.  Not only did they custom fit the rug pad to my rug, but they even tapered it so the rug would lay perfectly on it.  I loved the customer service and they were so easy to work with.

I chose the Eco-Plush Felt Rug Pad and have really liked it.  It is made in the USA, non-toxic, odor free and safe for all flooring types and its made out of recycled materials.  Love that its green... And love that its quality for a great AFFORDABLE price.  Especially compared to others I've seen.  The best part is there is a  buying guide they have to help you pick the best rug pad for your needs and for your flooring to ensure you wont ruin your floors.

Why would you want a high quality rug pad, anyway???
"The market is flooded with low- quality, prepackaged, mass-produced rug pads that are manufactured cheap and aren't designed to last. When your rug dealer offers you a "free rug pad with area rug", chances are that this "free" pad is virtually cost-less to them. Most of them come with a limited warranty, or without a warranty at all. Typically, within a few years, these low-quality pads will either fall apart, or worse permanently damage the floors below. As many homeowners have learned, these "free" pads are actually quite costly; and many have had to replace their entire floors due to an inferior pad. Our products are guaranteed to never strip, damage or discolor floors and come with a 15-20 year warranty!"

Bathroom (Designed)

This bathroom was a complete renovation.  I loved the cool outcome of the dark cabinets and brown accents with the ocean colors of the tans and blues.
